Steve McManaman: “The Real Madrid player was the coolest man on the planet against Liverpool”

Steve McManaman has claimed that Liverpool players will view the first leg against Real Madrid as a “horror show” after the Reds collapsed from a 2-0 lead conceding five goals at Anfield.
Liverpool took a 2-0 lead through goals from Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah in the first 15 minutes of the match as they got off to a solid start at Anfield.
Vinicius Junior scored two goals in the first half to tie the score, and the second Brazilian goal came after a mistake by Alisson Becker, Liverpool goalkeeper.
Eder Militao put the visitors ahead for the first time in the second half as the defender headed home after a Luka Modric free-kick.
Benzema added to Liverpool’s woes by scoring twice to give Real Madrid a three-goal advantage going into the second leg at the Bernabeu on March 15.
Liverpool legend Steve McManaman was stunned when Karim Benzema scored Real Madrid’s fifth goal of the last 16 as the European champions produced a huge display in the second half.
“I think that goal summed it all up, a completely torn team,” McManaman said on BT Sport.
“They are caught again in the centre of the park, pounced upon, and when Benzema has got the ball in the position he found himself, he is the coolest man on the planet
“Have some of that, three people go one way and he just places it in. That is another one to the collection.”
‘To concede five goals at Anfield. Five goals, at Anfield. From 2-0 up.
‘This will be a horror show for Liverpool for the players to look back and look at the mistakes in the last four goals.
‘A chastening experience this evening.’
